A Bit About Me

I began my journey to become a doula in 2018 when a family friend asked me to support them during their labour and birth. I had always wanted the opportunity to attend a birth so I jumped at the chance and my life was forever changed when their little boy came earthside.

I spent the next 3 years working full time during the day and studying in the evenings, taking courses to improve my knowledge. I was awarded a scholarship from Doula Canada and started their triple stream course in October of 2018. I was certified as a Labour & Birth Doula, Postpartum Doula, and Perinatal Educator in February of 2022. In November of 2020, I earned my certification through The Matrona Holistic Doula program. My dedication to learning doesn't end there as I have a number of certificates of completion for a wide spectrum of pregnancy and postpartum courses and I am currently enrolled in the Stillbirthday and 13 Moons programs.

My partner and I have 6 adult children and 2 grandchildren. Raising kids in a blended family helped teach me to have empathy, compassion, and an understanding that, even in a family, we are all unique in our own way and we need people around us who can support us emotionally and without bias. I use this lesson when I work with families to help me support each person and family in the ways that best suit them.

When I am not studying or working you can find me playing with our furry family members, Peter and Jack are our rabbits, and Kawpi is our cat.

I enjoy cooking and gardening, love a good book and practice photography as a hobby. I like to spend time using my hands to create in various mediums and recently painted a mandala on my office wall freehanded.

My time is best enjoyed when I am with family and friends.
